On April 27, 2020, National Silicon Industry Group (NSIG) issued an announcement that Mr. Li Xiaozhong resigned as president due to work reasons, which will take effect on April 26, 2020. In the future, Mr. Li Xiaozhong will continue to serve in NSIG and focus more on NSIG's business development.
NSIG held the 18th meeting of the first session of the Board of Directors on April 27, 2020, it was agreed to appoint Dr. Chiu Tzu-Yin as the president of NSIG. The term of office shall be shall be from now on until the expiration of the first session of the Board of Directors.
Appendix: Resume of Dr. Tzu-Yin Chiu
Dr. Tzu-Yin Chiu started in AT&T Bell Laboratories over 35 years ago and was the department head of high Speed Electronics Research Department and Silicon Research Operations Department. He served as Senior Director of Fab Operations in TSMC. Dr. Chiu became SVP of Shanghai Operations at SMIC’s infancy. He became the President and CEO of HHNEC in February 2009. He was appointed as the CEO of SMIC, the largest semi manufacturing company in China, in August 2011. Both HHNEC and SMIC, two largest China Si foundries, emerged from net loss to sustained profitability during his tenure. In May 2017 Dr. Chiu retired as SMIC CEO. He assumed CEO role of Zing Semiconductor Corporation in May 2019.
Dr. Chiu earned BS at RPI, PhD at UC Berkeley and EMBA from Columbia. He holds 82 patents, published over 30 articles. He was the recipient of Shanghai Magnolia Award, the Vice Council Chairman of China Semiconductor Industry Association, a board member of GSA, and a member of the Berkeley’s Engineering Advisory Board.
